Formlabs Teams up with Pixologic and ZBrush at CES

For years, digital artists have been using ZBrush software to push the limits of the imagination, and Formlabs printers to bring these designs to life. ZBrush software gives artists the freedom to create ultra-detailed sculptures and has become the industry standard for character design in film, gaming and advertising. It has left its mark on countless feature films, such as Guardians of the Galaxy, Godzilla, Jurassic World, and Star Wars Episode VII.

At CES, Formlabs is pleased to announce our first software integration, making the process of digital sculpting easier than ever. With a new 3D exporter, digital artists can take their designs directly into our PreForm software to easily set up their model to print on a Formlabs 3D printer. The new functionality will be released early in 2016 as a feature within ZBrush software.

ZBrush allows artists to make detailed parts like this orc, which are then printed in high resolution on a Formlabs printer.

Beyond improving the digital sculpting process, we’ll also be featuring new tutorials that help digital artists create physical designs, hosted at formlabs.com/zbrush/ (coming soon). For artists new to digital sculpting, Pixologic has made a free trial of ZBrush software available. Check out ZBrush Central for articles and video walkthroughs to get started.

To see demos of the new ZBrush function, come visit our booth at CES (#72318) in the 3D printing pavilion. Not going to CES this year? Sign up for our mailing list below for announcements about launch times, tutorials and more.
