Formlabs Announces New Dental 3D Printing Materials and Partnership with 3Shape
Now offering the first complete digital solution for dental professionals on the market
SOMERVILLE, Mass., 16 Mar 2017 – Formlabs, the designer and manufacturer of powerful and accessible 3D printing systems, today announced two new dental 3D printing materials and upcoming biocompatible materials for 3D printed dentures. Formlabs will showcase the dental resins for the first time next week at IDS 2017 (Koelnmesse, Germany, March 21-26), presenting workshops and demos of their new dental applications.
The new materials are:
Dental Model: a high accuracy resin for crown and bridge models with removable dies.
Dental LT Clear: a long-term biocompatible resin for direct-printing orthodontic appliances such as splints and retainers.
Two class IIa biocompatible materials for the direct 3D printing of dentures.
Formlabs today also announced a partnership with 3Shape, the global leader in 3D scanning and CAD/CAM software for dental practices and labs, to introduce software integration solutions to bring seamless dental 3D printing workflows to the worldwide market. The collaboration with 3Shape follows Formlabs’ distribution agreement earlier last month with Zahn Dental, the laboratory business of Henry Schein, the largest distributor to dental laboratories in North America.
Since Formlabs introduced Dental SG, the first biocompatible resin for desktop 3D printers, the company has experienced tremendous growth in the dental market.
“To date, Formlabs dental users have completed over 150,000 prints, and Form 2 printed guides have been used in more than 10,000 implant surgeries,” said Gideon Balloch, Dental Product Lead at Formlabs. “With today’s new dental materials, applications, and software integrations, the Form 2 has really become a powerful digital dentistry tool for businesses of any size. To push the forefront of dental 3D printing, to the point where even chairside 3D printing is cost-effective, is truly amazing.”
With today’s new materials and partnerships, Formlabs is now offering the first complete digital solution for dental professionals on the market.
“In building the biggest professional desktop 3D printing company, we constantly look to break into promising new markets,” said Max Lobovsky, cofounder and CEO of Formlabs. “Sales in dental 3D printing have been one of our fastest growing areas, and Formlabs products are increasingly the go-to 3D printing technologies for dental professionals.”
