Threaded parts in Tough 1500 Resin

Why Choose Tough 1500 Resin?

Tough 1500 Resin combines stiffness and elongation to offer a middle ground between Durable Resin and Tough 2000 Resin.

Pliable

Absorbs shocks of energy and supports repeated deflection.

Fast Springback

Strain parts that will spring back to their original shape when that stress is relieved.

Stiff

Compliant but also maintains overall rigidity.

Biocompatible

Certified for long-term skin contact.

Applications

Tough 1500 Resin is ideal for resilient prototyping or simulating the strength and stiffness of polypropylene (PP).

Consider Tough 1500 Resin for:

Prototypes that repeatedly bend and quickly return to shape
Jigs and fixtures requiring repeated deflection
Wearables, personal protective equipment, and other consumer goods

Material properties may vary based on part geometry, print orientation, print settings, and temperature. Data was obtained from parts printed using Form 2, 100 μm, Tough 1500 settings and post-cured with a Form Cure for 60 minutes at 70 °C.

Post-Processing

Form Wash Settings

Duration

10 minutes + 10 minutes in IPA

Notes

Wash parts printed in Tough 1500 Resin in two cycles, preferably using fresh solvent for the second wash. Parts with two wash times require two wash cycles. For the second wash cycle, use clean solvent. The first wash cycle removes the bulk of the resin, while the second cycle fully cleans the parts.

Note: If parts printed with Tough 1500 Resin will be used for skin contact use, parts must be washed with ≥99% IPA in a Form Wash/Form Wash L for 20 minutes. Ambient conditions and part design (for example, thicker walls or areas that can lead to IPA pooling) may require longer dry times prior to post-curing.

Notes

For parts printed in an engineering-focused resin (such as those in the Rigid, Tough & Durable, and Flexible & Elastic families), post-curing ensures that the parts reach their optimal mechanical properties and can function as designed. Note: If parts printed with Tough 1500 Resin will be used for skin contact use, parts must be post-cured in a Form Cure at 70 °C for 60 minutes.
