Formlabs Showcases Mass Customization and Two New Resins at CES 2018
At CES 2018, the Formlabs booth will have the Form 2, Fuse 1, Form Cell and will demo the creation of on-demand custom earbuds
SOMERVILLE, Mass., Jan. 08, 2018 – Formlabs, the designer and manufacturer of powerful and accessible 3D printing systems, kicks off CES 2018 with the introduction of two new resins, Rigid and Grey Pro. Grey Pro Resin offers high precision and versatile material properties, including moderate elongation and low creep, which make it great for concept modeling and functional testing. Rigid Resin, Formlab’s first reinforced with glass resin, offers very high stiffness and a polished finish.

At the booth*, Formlabs will feature both the Form Cell and Fuse 1 for the first time at a tradeshow, in addition to showcasing products and demos from customers and partners involved in some of the most innovative uses of 3D printing with Formlabs technology, from 3D printed parts for the manufacturing line to mass customization.
2018 mass customized earbuds finally arrive: Formlabs and 3Shape will demo how the combined power of the Form 2 3D printer and 3Shape Phoenix in-ear scanner make it possible to put customized earbuds in the hands of consumers faster.
Higher quality and more affordable prototyping: During development for the quip electric toothbrush, prototyping was either prohibitively expensive or poor quality. Now, with Form 2, quip can prototype high quality parts more affordably. quip will showcase their product development process at the Formlabs booth, comparing how they could have overcome significant challenges faster using the Form 2.
Custom parts printed for the manufacturing line: Pankl Racing Systems specializes in developing and manufacturing engine and drivetrain components for high performance vehicles and aerospace. Every one of Pankl’s speciality parts requires a series of custom jigs, fixtures, and other tooling, which increases costs and time to machine. At the show, the Form Cell, a completely automated 3D printing production solution, will print Pankl parts to show the added efficiency it provides for small batch manufacturing.
