Dashboard update and migration FAQ

As of January 2023, using Dashboard has become even simpler. The familiar features didn’t change: you can still monitor and manage your prints and printers the usual way. But now, Dashboard allows you to add and organize your printers, and manage who has access to them much easier than before. You can invite others or be invited to collaborate without the hassle of setting up multiple accounts. You can now simply move printers between different groups. You always know who uses the same printers as you.

So what changed?

We introduced Printer Groups in place of Teams. They are very similar, but now you are able to organize your printers without having to share them, or share your printers without having to organize them. You can also easily move printers between printer groups that you administer.

What does this mean for me?

It depends how you previously used Dashboard:

  • If you had printers registered to only you, they still are registered to you. You can organize them or share them, but you don’t have to—you’re all set.
  • If others have the same printers registered to them as you, those printers have been added to a single Printer Group named “Unnamed group.” Each of you are an admin for the group. Each of you can see your and only your previous print history for the printers in the group. But from now on, since you share these printers, the new prints and history will also be visible to every one of you.
  • If others have a subset of your printers registered to them too, you will now see your printers grouped into multiple Printer Groups. The printers are grouped by the users they have in common. Note: each of those users is an admin for the group or groups they are in.
  • If you previously shared printers as part of a Team without Fleet Control, your Team is now a Printer Group. It works just like it did before except better: you can now move printers between Printer Groups you are an admin of. Each account’s role in the new group is the same as it was in the Team. The name of the new Printer Group is the same as that of the Team it was created from.
  • If you participated in the Fleet Control beta program and had Printer Groups within your Team, these Printer Groups have now been converted to the new Printer Groups. You will be able to use Fleet Control as you did before. Each account’s role in the new Printer Group is the same as it was in the Team. The name of the new group is the same as that of the original printer group it was created from. Ungrouped printers have been placed in a new group with the same name as the Team it was created from.

Again, is my print history intact?

Yes, your previous personal print history is completely there and is still only visible to you. But from now on, every print you make with printers that are shared with others will be visible to everyone.
