Understanding print settings
A print setting is a collection of parameters that controls the behavior of a Formlabs printer. Each setting is dependent on printer generation, material, layer height, and PreForm version. Print settings can directly impact every aspect of your print’s quality, accuracy, speed, and part properties. Print settings can be found in PreForm’s Job Setup view.
Key terms
Print Setting identifier: A name given to different print settings options available in a given version of PreForm. What specific parameters are tied to each of these identifiers is unique to a given PreForm version, and they do not carry over from one PreForm version to another.
Print Setting descriptor: A description of a print setting’s intended use.
Version number: Each print setting has a version number, displayed next to its name in the format Major.Minor. A new major revision denotes an improvement in reliability, supports, or print time. A new minor revision denotes a smaller change to the print settings between major releases.
Formlabs Print Setting: A print setting treated by Formlabs as indicated by a Formlabs icon. To create a custom print setting, you can use these settings as a template to make adjustments.
Custom Print Setting: A setting that is created by a user in the Print Setting Editor based on the original parameters of a Formlabs Print Setting.
Parameter: A numerical factor that characterizes a member of a print setting.
