Cleaning the Fuse Blast's HEPA air filter
Cleaning the Fuse Blast's HEPA air filter
During regular use, the Fuse Blast’s HEPA air filter collects powder and blasting media. Inspect the HEPA filter every 30 hours of blasting. Vacuum the filter when it is saturated with debris to prolong its lifetime and ensure proper operation.

To vacuum the HEPA filter:
- Unlatch the HEPA filter door at the bottom front of the Fuse Blast.

- Inspect the filter visually. If powder or blasting media is visible on the filter, proceed to steps 3–4.
- Starting from the top and moving from left to right, vacuum powder out of the filter pleats using an antistatic vacuum that is grounded and bonded (e.g., NFPA 652-compliant). Clean any loose powder that falls from the filter.
- Move down and across until you have cleaned the entire filter and no additional loose powder falls from it.
- Latch the HEPA filter door shut.
- Vacuum any powder that fell into the work area below the Fuse Blast.
If there is an unusual or excessive amount of buildup in the filter cabinet:
- Clean the Fuse Blast's media filter mesh.
- Inspect the cyclone outlet tube.
- The outlet tube should extend upwards from the cyclone separator and curve towards the back of the machine. If the hose is kinked or bent sharply, adjust it as needed so that it curves gently. Kinks in the hose can impede airflow and lead to buildup in the filter cabinet.
- If the cyclone outlet tube is damaged, replace it. Fuse Blast cyclone outlet tubes are available for purchase on the Formlabs Store.
