PreForm 3.43.0 — December 10, 2024

PreForm 3.43.0 is a recommended update for Fuse 1, Fuse 1+, Form 4B, Form 4, Form 4L, Form 4BL, Form 3BL, Form 3L, Form 3B/Form 3B+, Form 3/Form 3+, and Form 2 printers. This release introduces Model grouping on Fuse 1 generation printers, improves Hollowing, and reduces touch tip size to 0.1 mm on Form 4 and Form 4L generation printers.

• New features:
• CAD file import (Beta): Directly import native CAD files without converting them.
• Model grouping (SLS): Organize and manage your models using the new model grouping feature. Select models and use the right click menu to group.
• Import folders: Import a folder of models directly into PreForm, eliminating the need to import files one by one and streamlining your workflow. This workflow is further improved for SLS by automatically putting models imported by folder into a group.
• Improvements:
• Fewer warnings when setting up jobs: PreForm will no longer warn when you use small touchtips for supports. Use caution when using small touchtips for large parts - these may come off supports and lead to a print failure.
• Download Print Report as CSV (SLS): Export your print data to CSV format for easy analysis and record-keeping.
• Single sign-on with Formlabs Dashboard: Use your existing Formlabs Dashboard login credentials to log into PreForm automatically when you're already signed into Dashboard in your browser.
• Hollowing: Changed the inner surface “Feature Size” parameter from “Low/Med/High” to a more precise size in millimeters.
• Bug fixes:
• Fixed an issue that caused Form Cure devices to stay on a black screen during firmware update with PreForm 3.42.0 and 3.42.1
• Removed pause between end of print and start of homing on Form 4 and Form 4L generation printers, saving around 20 seconds per print
• Fixed an issue that would cause some Dental resins to appear red in the Job Setup sidebar

• Reduced allowable touch tip size to 0.1 mm for all print settings on Form 4 and Form 4L generation printers

PreForm 3.42.1 is a recommended update for all Formlabs printers. This release features improved raft label text for Form 4 and Form 4L generation printers, a new Form X materials category, and support for High Temp, Flame Retardant, ESD, Clear Cast, and Tough 2000 Resin on Form 4L generation printers.

• New Form X materials category: Access powerful manufacturing technologies with Formlabs PU Rigid and Alumina 4N materials. These are now available under the Form X materials category in the Job Setup screen.
• Improved raft label text: Improved raft label text for all settings on Form 4 and Form 4L generation printers.

PreForm 3.42.0 — November 6, 2024

PreForm 3.42.0 is a recommended update for all Formlabs printers. This release features added support for the Timelapse feature on Form 4L generation printers, improved part texturing performance and part hollowing, and updated Default print settings for Flame Retardant Resin on Form 4 generation printers.

• New features:
• Timelapse on Form 4L: Create stunning Timelapse videos of your print in progress. Turn on the option in PreForm and log into Dashboard to access your videos. Note: enabling the Timelapse feature may increase print time and impact print quality or success. Requires firmware version 1.9.0 or later.
• Improvements:
• Better part texturing performance: Improve how the part texturing feature works by controlling the number of triangles in the scene. Use the slider in the Texture flyout and change the max triangle count. The max count depends on your computer’s hardware, available resources, and the number of models you’ve imported in PreForm. You might need to experiment to determine the right value for you.
• Faster part hollowing: Hollow parts faster and monitor progress with the progress bar. Improved hollowing speed and progress bar accuracy.
• Detailed warnings when printing with tall parts: Tall parts require more attention when they’re being removed from the printer and during post-processing. PreForm will provide helpful reminders when you’re printing a tall part with instructions for Form Cure L and Form Wash L. (Form 4L)
• Increased accuracy of cartridge volumes: With more accurate cartridge volume, you can make sure the printer has enough resin for your print job. (Form 4 and Form 4L generation printers)
• Bug fixes:
• Fixed issue where backspace key did not delete selected touchpoints

• Form 4/4B: Updated Default print setting for Flame Retardant at 100 microns to improve print reliability

PreForm 3.39.0 is a recommended update for Fuse 1, Fuse 1+, Form 4B, Form 4, Form 3BL, Form 3L, Form 3B/Form 3B+, Form 3/Form 3+, and Form 2 printers. This release features the ability to view the camera feed from Form 4 generation printers, cup mitigration improvements, bug fixes for issues with manual supports, and improvements to the Model Powder parameter for SLS printers.

• New features:

  • View the camera feed: Form 4 generation printers are equipped with an onboard camera. Select a Form 4 or Form 4 printer in the Job Setup screen to see the camera feed. During printing, use the camera feed to see how the print is coming along. When the printer is idle, use it to check for parts on the build platform.

• Improvements:

  • Updated the Model Powder parameter under Model Properties to include three decimal places when printing with an SLS printer. This parameter now shows the mass of a model down to the gram.
  • Cup mitigation improvements: Form 4 printers will slow down layer printing speed if cups are detected. This improves surface finish and print reliability but might slow down the print. You can control this behavior using the Cup Mitigation Enabled toggle in the Print Settings Editor.

• Bug fixes:

  • Fixed issue where jobs printed with Silicone 40A Resin on Form 3 and Form 3B printers could not be supported manually
  • Fixed bug where manual supports could not be added using the brush on some flat surfaces
  • Fixed issue where the red shading applied during manual support editing did not reset when exiting that mode

• Print settings updates:

  • Updated cup mitigation parameters for small parts on all Form 4 resin settings
  • Added notice about Denture Teeth Resin being retired on December 3, 2024

• Known issues:
  • PreForm may not remember the last selected print setting (such as Default or Legacy) when restarted. Make sure to reconfirm the desired print setting in Job Setup.
