Before a Formlabs SLA printer starts a print, it fills the resin tank, heats and mixes the resin, and checks for debris. For most users, this process does not have a significant impact on workflow. For more industrial applications with higher throughput requirements, slowdowns from resin preheating and mid-print resin tank fills can add up.

On Form 4 and Form 4L generation printers running firmware 1.15.0 or later, you can enable High Volume Manufacturing mode to keep your printer ready at all times. To enable High Volume Manufacturing mode:

1. On the printer’s touchscreen, tap Settings > Configuration. The Configuration screen appears.
2. Toggle High Volume Manufacturing mode to ON. The toggle turns blue and a small factory icon appears in the status bar at the top of the screen.

When you enable High Volume Manufacturing mode, the printer:

• Keeps the resin tank filled at all times, not just immediately before a print starts
• Holds the resin at its target temperature for up to 75 minutes
• Mixes the resin in the resin tank continuously, with the same frequency and speed as it normally would during the preprint process for the inserted resin
• After 75 minutes, the printer runs the mixer once every 10 seconds for 4 days, keeping your resin mixed during longer breaks in production such as weekends and holidays.
• Disables the separate Resin preheating toggle
