Unable to load powder credits (Fuse 1 generation)
Unable to load powder credits (Fuse 1 generation)
Each package of Formlabs powder includes an ID card. This card contains powder credits which must be loaded onto the printer to authorize and track the amount of powder that is available. If your printer does not recognize these credit cards or if your powder balance is not updating properly, follow the steps below.
Causes
- Incorrectly-programmed powder credit card
- Trying to add powder credits while the printer is in Open Material Mode
- Loose connection to the RFID board inside the printer
- Defective RFID board
Symptoms
- Multiple powder credit cards inserted into the card slot are not detected by the printer
- Adding credit to the printer does not change the credits shown on the touchscreen
- Unable to access the credit loading interface due to an unresponsive or freezing touchscreen
Troubleshooting steps
- Update your printer’s firmware.
- If Open Material Mode was enabled when you attempted to add powder credit, disable Open Material Mode and try again.
- Try using a different powder credit card, if one is available. If the printer loads powder credit normally from another card, the original card may have been misprogrammed. If you only have one card, contact Formlabs Support for assistance.
- If the printer cannot read multiple cards, the issue may be with the RFID board in the printer. If you are comfortable doing so, you can check the RFID board connection. If the connection is not loose, the RFID board may need to be replaced. Contact Formlabs Support for guidance.
If the issue persists, contact Formlabs Support or your certified service provider. To speed up the resolution of your issue, follow the best practices when opening a support case.
