PreForm Insider 3.63.0 build 797 — August 5, 2026
- Announcements:
- Native Apple Silicon builds: Native arm64 (Apple Silicon) macOS builds are available for the Insider Program, giving Mac users faster, fully native performance.
- New features:
- Auto-arrange on import (SLA): Imported SLA parts are automatically arranged in the 3D scene as they come in, with a progress bar, so you start from a laid-out build platform instead of a pile at the origin. On by default in Insider builds; toggle it under layout preferences.
- Rapid layout packer (SLA): A new fast planar packer lays out and re-packs plates in a fraction of the time of the previous algorithm, trading a small amount of packing density for a large speed gain. This is especially noticeable in dense dental scenes. When too many parts are added, the best-effort layout pushes the overflow outside the build rather than leaving an unprintable arrangement.
- Layout Selected (SLA): Lay out only the parts you have selected and pack them into the free space around the parts you have already placed, which stay put.
- Improvements:
- Lighter support meshes: Support structure meshes are now generated in a lighter-weight form, reducing memory use and speeding up rendering and print upload on heavily-supported scenes. Enabled by default for Insider builds.
- Per-build-volume view state: The slicer slider position, the measurement tool, and which flyouts are open are remembered for each build, so switching between build restores each one exactly as you left it.
- Label and Hole flyouts no longer freezes the UI: Opening the labeling or hole flyout no longer greys out and locks the rest of the interface, so you can keep working while it is open.
- Delete All custom print settings: Delete All button (with confirmation) clears your entire custom print settings list at once, instead of removing entries one at a time.
- Smarter Print Settings Editor filtering: The Print Settings Editor now opens filtered to your current printer type and remembers your last-used filter for the session, instead of defaulting to showing all printer types.
- Consistent flyout buttons: Primary action buttons are consistently placed on the far right across flyouts (starting with Hollow, Texture, and Label) for a more predictable layout.
- Print settings updates:
- New Supports V2 print setting for True Cast Resin at 50 microns on Form 4 generation printers, giving an updated support option for that material.
- Removed the New badge from the Nylon 12 Powder speed-optimized setting now that it has been available for six months.
- Bug fixes:
- Crash on exit: Fixed several crashes when quitting PreForm (including QML window and menu-bar teardown on macOS), so closing the app is now clean.
- Startup crash with an unknown printer: Fixed a crash on startup when the last-selected printer in the registry was one this version does not recognize.
- Blank default name in Save dialog: Fixed a missing import that left the Save dialog with a blank default file name and folder; it now defaults correctly.
- Save As kept the old file name: Fixed Save As silently keeping the original file name instead of saving under the new name you chose (which risked overwriting the original).
- What's New kept reappearing on Mac: Fixed the What's New popup reappearing on every launch on macOS after you had already dismissed it.
- Upload to Queue missing for primed SLS printers: Restored the Upload to Queue button when a primed Fuse SLS printer is selected, so you can queue additional jobs.
- Supports dropped when changing layer thickness: Fixed supports being discarded when switching a model between layer thicknesses on the same material; your support work now survives the change.
- Dropping a model onto a group: Fixed drag-and-drop so dropping a model onto a group's list correctly adds it to the build.
- Show / Hide not always working: Fixed the show/hide eye icon so it reliably toggles model visibility, including on double-click.
- Scaling moved parts around the build platform: Fixed certain models jumping around the build platform when scaled; scale and mirror now operate about the model's bounding-box center.
- Support pillars piercing the model: Fixed support pillars that started below and grew up through the part when the raft type was set to None.
- Trussing stopped short of the model: Fixed trussed supports ending too early at the top or starting too high at the bottom, which could cause instability; trusses now connect reliably for sturdier supports.
- Floating pillars converted to internal pillars: Fixed lattice supports that sometimes generated internal pillars instead of the intended truss-supported floating pillars.
- Dashboard blank on Apple Silicon Macs: Fixed the Dashboard tab staying blank after login on signed/notarized Apple Silicon macOS builds.
- Apply button in the label flyout: Fixed the Apply button not enabling until you clicked outside the flyout; it now enables immediately as you edit a label.

PreForm Insider 3.61.0 build 697 — July 8, 2026
- New features:
- Send to build: Right-click a selection of parts and choose Send to build to move them to another build, or to a brand-new one. Each part keeps its position relative to the build edge, so parts outside the build stay outside at the same offset.
- Resizable project panel: click and drag from the edge of the project panel to change its size.
- “Add Models” from .FORM file: Add models from a local .FORM file to a build using the Add Models button, found on hover over a build title.
- Forceful drag out of build: models can now be dragged outside the build area. Models will snap to the edge of the build and resist being removed unless dragged forcefully to avoid small overhangs.
- Improvements:
- “Build Volume” is now “Build”: Renamed “Build Volume” to “Build” throughout the interface, and “Job setup” to “Build setup,” for clearer, more consistent terminology.
- Projects panel polish: Reduced the passive coloring of parts in the active build for a cleaner panel; updated the machine type label to more visible text.
- Better drag-and-drop: The target build is now highlighted while you drag parts into it, and the sidebar auto-scrolls when you drag near its top or bottom edge.
- Faster selection on large models: Split-eligibility is now cached, so re-selecting large models no longer freezes the UI for several seconds while the Split option is evaluated.
- Tools remember settings during a session: The Label, Hole, Hollow, and Texture tools now keep your last-used settings when reopened within the same PreForm session.
- Version-first dental material selection: In dental workspaces you can now choose the material version first and have it filter the available shades (rather than the reverse)
- Print settings updates:
- Form 4 Black Resin V5, 50 µm — Supports V2: New 50-micron Supports V2 print settings for Form 4 Black Resin V5 available in Job Setup.
- Bug fixes:
- Crash fixes: Fixed multiple issues which caused crashes on PreForm exit, build switching, raft generation, and support generation with lattices.
- Pasted supported parts floated in SLA: Parts with supports or a cage pasted into an incompatible build now drop to the platform in SLA instead of floating in mid-air.
- Realistic view touch tips: Fixed stray protruding cones when rendering support touch tips in realistic view.
- Models floated with Z-compression correction: Fixed models printed directly on the platform with z-compression correction above ~0.2 mm being flagged entirely as minima and floating, because the raft base layer wasn’t built.
- Windows: .form files locked by Explorer: Fixed a file-handle leak in the thumbnail provider that left .form files locked (couldn’t rename, move, or delete) after Explorer generated their thumbnails.
- Better build deletion: Fixed build deletion leaving job setup in an inconsistent state and issues with deleting the sole build.
- Unsaved marker on empty build: Fixed the unsaved-changes marker appearing — with no way to save — after renaming the job title on an empty build.
- “Untitled Project” save name: Fixed Save As defaulting to the active build’s name instead of the project name for untitled projects.
- Imported .form build naming: Builds imported from older .form files are now named after the .form file rather than their parts.
- Print-settings change deselected the printer: Fixed the selected printer being cleared when saving or applying print settings, unless the material actually changes as a result.
- Form 4B misidentified after restart: Fixed Form 4B printers being treated as Form 4 in the dental workspace after restarting PreForm.
- Raft label not updated on rename: Fixed the raft label not updating when a model is renamed in the model list.
PreForm Insider 3.61.0 build 586 — June 10, 2026
- New features:
- Fuse X1 support: PreForm now supports the Fuse X1 SLS printer.
- Flexible 80A Resin V2: The new Flexible 80A Resin V2 is now available in PreForm for Form 4 and Form 4L generation printers.
- Improvements:
- Elastic 50A is now Flexible 50A: Elastic 50A Resin V2 has been renamed to Flexible 50A Resin. The formulation is unchanged—only the name is new. PreForm shows a one-time notification explaining the change.
- Print settings updates:
- New Default V1.0 print settings for Flexible 80A Resin V2 at 100 microns on Form 4 and Form 4L generation printers.
PreForm Insider 3.61.0 build 551 — June 2, 2026
- Improvements:
- Realistic View: Added support for the following resins:
- Precision Model Resin V1
- Tough 1000 Resin V1
- Nylon 11 Powder V1
- Nylon 12 Tough Powder V1
- Nylon 12 GF Powder V1
- Separate Bodies refinement: The Separate Bodies context menu option (formerly "Split Bodies", introduced in 3.59.0) is now disabled when right-clicking a single-body model, making it clear that the feature only applies to multi-body parts.
- Z-Bleed Compensation control in Print Settings Editor: The Z-Bleed Compensation parameter in the Print Settings Editor has been redesigned for clarity. Instead of entering an offset in layer counts, you now enter the maximum compensation amount directly in millimeters, and can adjust it in increments matching the layer height.
- Realistic View: Added support for the following resins:
- Print settings updates:
- Support presets removed: The support presets dropdown has been removed from the support flyout for Form 4 and Form 4L generation printers. Users who relied on a specific preset can download them at this page.
PreForm Insider 3.60.0 build 510 — May 22, 2026
- New features:
- Auto-recovery: Following an unexpected shutdown, you have the option to recover lost progress from automatically-saved local backups.
- Realistic View: The view toggle in the top-right of the 3D scene switches between the standard view and a realistic view where parts are shown as they will actually be printed. See material color, touchpoints, layer lines, and textures with true-to-life accuracy. Currently supported materials:
- Grey Resin V5
- Black Resin V5
- White Resin V5
- Fast Model Resin V1
- Tough 1500 Resin V2
- Tough 2000 Resin V2
- Rigid 4000 Resin V1
- Rigid 10K Resin V1.1
- Nylon 12 Powder V1

- Improvements:
- Save full projects: Projects with multiple builds can now be saved as a single .form file. Use the File menu or keyboard shortcuts to save and load .form files normally without needing to save each build separately.
- Note: New .form files will not be backward compatible to previous versions of PreForm.
- Early Layer Merge parameter added to Print Settings Editor (SLA): Scene-wide early layer merge can be adjusted in the Print Settings Editor, providing control over build plate adhesion.
- Separate Bodies (renamed from "Part Splitting"): The multi-body splitting feature shipped in 3.59.0 has been renamed throughout the UI from "Part Splitting" / "Split Bodies" to Separate Bodies for consistency. Behavior is unchanged: right-click a multi-body model and select Separate Bodies to break it into individual models grouped in the model list.
- Confirmation before deleting a build volume: Deleting a build volume now prompts for confirmation before deletion. This prevents accidental loss of work, as the undo/redo stack is currently per-build, not cross-build.
- Bug fixes:
- Fixed issue where turning on variable Z-scaling disabled XY correction factors.
- Fixed issue where some hotkeys were disabled on Windows machines.
- Fixed issue where imported 3MF files had incorrect positions.
- Fixed issue where selecting a model triggered printability and print time recalculations. Selecting a model without modifying it no longer initiates printability checks or print time estimations. Selection is now faster on large scenes.
