Setting up and using the Finish Kit (Form 3 generation)

After printing, use the tools included in the Finish Kit to remove the printed part from the build platform, rinse it, and remove supports.

Finish Kit components

1. Rinse station: Holds the two rinse buckets. The rinse station has flip lids for easy one-handed operation.

2. Rinse buckets: Two plastic buckets to be partially filled with solvent.

3. Rinse basket: Use to transfer parts from one bucket to the next. The basket can rest on the edge of the rinse bucket to allow parts to drip.

4. Rinse bottle: Keep filled with fresh solvent for rinsing prints and flushing internal channels.

5. Finishing tray: Provides a catch-all workspace to place sticky parts or tools and contain resin or solvent drips.

6. Tweezers: Use to carefully remove supports from a printed part. Do not use sharp tools to inspect the Form 3/Form 3B resin tank.

7. Scraper: Use to remove parts from the build platform. Do not use sharp tools to inspect the Form 3/Form 3B resin tank.

8. Removal tool: Apply pressure under the raft generated by PreForm to release the base of your printed parts from the build platform.

9. Build platform jig: Provides a place to secure the build platform as you work on removing your printed part.

10. Flush cutters: Use to carefully remove supports from your prints.

11. Non-reactive nitrile gloves: Wear gloves when removing and finishing your prints.

Tank tool: Use to inspect and clean the Form 3/Form 3B resin tank.

Using the jig

Attaching the build platform to the jig

With your print facing upwards, push the build platform onto the jig until it sits secure.

Orientations of the build platform jig

Use the jig as a place to rest the build platform. For parts that are difficult to remove, you can hold the jig at an angle and apply more force.

Next steps

If you haven’t already, partially fill the rinse buckets with solvent. If you are washing your prints with tripropylene glycol monomethyl ether (TPM), fill one rinse bucket with TPM and the other with water. Wash your printed parts to remove any remaining liquid solvent.

Once your printed parts are fully dry, you can post-cure them. Some Formlabs resins require post-curing to reach their optimal mechanical properties or as part of a workflow to produce a biocompatible part.

After post-curing, continue to post-process your parts. Remove support marks, polish your parts, or paint them depending on their end use.
