Preparing your workspace for the Form 4 generation printer
Preparing your workspace for the Form 4 generation printer
Before receiving your printer, prepare a space to install and operate the Form 4 generation printer and house the necessary accessories and consumables. Choose a location separate from any machinery or tooling that generates dust or sparks, such as wood or metal working equipment.
Workspace requirement
Reserve the following minimum dimensions for the most convenient access (W × D × H):
- Form 4 generation printer: 40.7 × 47.8 × 84.4 cm (16.0 × 18.8 × 33.2 in)
- Finish Kit: 55 × 85 × 90 cm (22 × 34 × 35 in)
- Form Wash (1st Generation): 40 × 40 × 80 cm (15.8 × 15.8 × 31.5 in)
- Form Wash (2nd Generation): 40 × 40 × 80 cm (15.8 × 15.8 × 31.5 in)
- Form Cure (1st Generation): 26.2 × 26.2 × 64 cm (10.3 × 10.3 × 25.4 in)
- Form Cure (2nd Generation): 38.1 × 66 × 45 cm (15 × 26 × 17.7 in)
- Additional space for other post-processing tools or Formlabs-approved third-party devices
The printer requires a power source that meets the following requirements:
- 100–240 VAC
- Maximum 4.8 A
- 50/60 Hz
- 480 W
Storing consumables
Formlabs materials require proper storage to maximize the usable lifetime. Light and temperature affect shelf life significantly. For optimal results, follow Formlabs guidelines for storing and handling resins.
Consider dedicating shelf space as storage for consumables. Resin cartridges can be stored next to each other vertically on a flat surface. Form 4 generation resin tanks and Form 4 generation build platforms lay flat and are stackable for efficient storage.
Additional supplies
Aside from the contents of the printer package, you need additional supplies to post-process printed parts and to clean and maintain the printer. Prepare your workspace by purchasing them in advance:
- Isopropyl alcohol (90% or higher) and/or tripropylene glycol monomethyl ether
- Low-fiber paper towels
- Non-abrasive microfiber cloth
- Non-reactive nitrile gloves
- PEC*PADs
- Safety glasses
