Turntable does not spin (Form Cure L)

Turntable does not spin (Form Cure L)

Explanation

The Form Cure L uses a turntable to ensure balanced post-curing across all exposed surfaces. Under normal operation, the turntable spins during post-curing cycles. If your Form Cure L’s turntable is not spinning during post-curing cycles, turntable spinning may be disabled on the Form Cure L’s UI, or there could be an issue with the turntable’s gear or motor.

Causes

  • Turntable spinning is disabled
  • Gear on the underside of the turntable is misshapen
  • Motor issues

Symptoms

  • Turntable does not spin when post-curing cycle starts

  1. Check that the coupler on the underside of the turntable is present and undamaged.
  2. Check to see if the turntable is able to fit into the Form Cure L. The turntable should fit without any clearance issues and slides onto the peg on the Form Cure L.
    1. If the turntable does not fit on the peg, contact Formlabs Support.
  1. Check that the coupler on the underside of the turntable is present and undamaged.
  2. Check that the corresponding coupler in the Form Cure L is present and undamaged. Impacts from heavy parts dropped onto the turntable, such as large parts printed in Rigid 10K Resin, can crack the coupler.
    1. If the coupler is cracked, you can print a replacement. Formlabs recommends a tough and impact-resistant resin, such as Tough 2000 Resin V2. The coupler mounts on the motor shaft via a press-fit.
  1. If the turntable has issues spinning, take a video of spinning the turntable by hand and a photo of the gear on its underside. Send the video and photo to Formlabs Support.
