Adjusting the camera privacy settings (Form 4 generation)

Form 4 and Form 4L generation printers contain an integrated camera. If the camera is enabled, it automatically saves a photo of each print as it completes. Choose your preferred camera privacy settings during onboarding or adjust the camera privacy settings, enable or disable the camera, and control access to post-print photos once onboarding is complete.

Current features allow users to take video timelapses of the printing process, take snapshots of the build platform from Dashboard, and take a post-print photo of completed print jobs.

The camera is located to the left of the Z-axis tower and points at the build platform and resin tank.

Data privacy settings

Formlabs collects printer analytics to improve product performance. If the printer’s camera is enabled, it captures a photo at the end of every print. You can control whether Formlabs receives this image for analytics by adjusting the settings.

Formlabs is committed to protecting your privacy. For specific details on privacy, data sharing, and access, please visit formlabs.com/privacy.

Note:

When printing a job generated with PreForm 3.35, the camera LED automatically flashes at the end of the print even if the camera is disabled. If the camera is disabled, the printer does not take a post-print photo regardless of the LED activity.

Enabling and disabling camera analytics

Formlabs uses analytics data to improve printer performance and fix problems quickly.

When the camera and post-print photo analytics are enabled, Form 4 and Form 4L generation printers automatically save a photo of the print and the build platform. If the printer is connected to the internet, it also uploads the photo to Formlabs servers.

To adjust the camera analytics settings:

  1. On the printer’s touchscreen, tap the gear icon. The Settings menu appears.
  2. Tap Analytics. The Analytics menu appears.
  3. To enable post-print photos: Toggle Share post-print photos to ON. The toggle turns blue.
To disable post-print photos: Toggle Share post-print photos to OFF. The toggle turns gray.
