Thermal properties of selected Formlabs SLS powders
Below is data about the thermal properties of selected Formlabs SLS powders. Use this data along with the information in Choosing the right powder and the technical data sheet (TDS) for your selected material to pick a powder and evaluate your printed parts. If data for your material is not available, choose the closest comparable material and interpolate or extrapolate as necessary. For other requests, reach out to Formlabs Support or your sales representative.
Coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE)
ASTM-tested properties appear in the datasheets for our powders. There are many other properties that Formlabs has not officially tested.
| Powder type | CTE (um/m°C) | Temperature range |
|---|---|---|
| Nylon 11 CF Powder | 47.2 | -30–140 °C |
| Nylon 12 Powder | 150.1 | -30–140 °C |
| Nylon 12 GF Powder | 125.8 | -30–140 °C |
| TPU 90A Powder | 235.0 | -30–140 °C |
Glass transition temperature
To determine glass transition temperature, 3 × 12 × 60 mm samples were tested using dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA).
| Powder type | Glass Transition Temperature (°C) |
|---|---|
| Nylon 12 Powder | 60 °C |
| Nylon 12 GF Powder | 59 °C |
