Overview

Fuse X1 is a large-format industrial SLS 3D printer, built for engineers, manufacturers, and service bureaus looking to produce large prototypes and high-volume end-use parts with a faster turnaround. Its massive  build volume and high packing density enable same-day large parts and 3x the throughput compared to competing platforms. AI-powered Print Intelligence monitors jobs from first layer to final part to reduce failures. Setup takes about an hour, print-to-print changeover takes minutes, and the same end-to-end workflow handles extraction, powder reclaiming, and finishing — moving parts from printed to polished in as little as 15 minutes.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Standalone Printer option includes the core hardware: the Fuse 1+ 30W Printer and one Fuse Build Chamber. This configuration is ideal for operations that already own compatible post-processing equipment (such as a Fuse Sift or Fuse Blast) or are expanding an existing Fuse printer fleet.

Formlabs offers the Fuse 1+ 30W in three primary configurations: Standalone Printer, Starter Package (includes essential manual depowdering tools), and Complete Package (includes automated Fuse Sift and Fuse Blast hardware).

The Fuse 1+ 30W uses selective laser sintering (SLS) technology. It is designed as a compact industrial SLS 3D printer intended to deliver rapid production output in-house with maximum efficiency.

The build volume is 165 x 165 x 300 mm (6.5 x 6.5 x 11.8 in). This compact footprint is optimized for high throughput with minimal material waste.

Because SLS 3D printed parts emerge encapsulated in unsintered powder, post-processing equipment is required before parts can be used. You will need a depowdering and powder recovery setup—such as the manual Fuse Depowdering Kit, or automated equipment like the Fuse Sift and Fuse Blast—to extract, clean, and post-process finished parts.

Formlabs PreForm software is used to import, orient, and prepare builds. You can also monitor and manage prints remotely through Formlabs Dashboard.

The Fuse 1+ 30W supports a range of high-performance SLS materials, including nylon and TPU. You can explore the full range of compatible powders on the Formlabs materials page. The printer also supports third-party materials through Open Material Mode.
