Pre-recovery checklist (Fuse 1)

The Fuse 1 is a machine with moving parts that require regular maintenance to sustain optimal performance. Sintering nylon results in the production of off gases and laurolactam, which collect onto the printer's various components in the print enclosure and air system. In order to preserve the accuracy and reliability of the Fuse 1, it is important to regularly check and clean several components and assemblies.

Caution:

 

Do not use compressed air or an air gun to clean the print enclosure, build chamber, or any other component. Mobilizing loose powder increases the risk of unintentional inhalation or ingestion.

Before every print

Before starting each print, be sure to:

  • Insert an empty build chamber
  • Check the amount of powder credit left available
  • Fill the hopper
  • Check the IR sensor for dust, powder, or other contamination
  • Clean the IR sensor if necessary
  • Swap the optical cassette for a clean one

After every print

When a print job has completed, be sure to:

  • Wait 30–50% of the actual build time for the build chamber to cool before unpacking or handling prints
  • Check that the print enclosure is 35 ºC (95 °F) or cooler before removing or handling prints
  • Unlock, unplug, and store the build chamber plug
  • Clean the currently inserted optical cassette
  • Clean both powder troughs and the area around the recoater’s path using a compliant vacuum with static dissipative components
  • Inspect and clean the recoater if necessary
