Starting January 12, 2026, all new Form 4B and Form 4BL printer packages include Open Material Mode (OMM) by default*. With Open Material Mode, you can print with most 385 and 405 nm photopolymer resin on Formlabs SLA printers, giving you greater flexibility with third-party materials. Please note that if you print with OMM, Light Processing Unit wear and damage will not be covered under your warranty. For more information, see our article on Understanding Light Processing Unit lifetime (Form 4 and Form 4L generation).
Formlabs does not develop or validate print settings for third-party resins. Below is a list of third-party dental resins whose manufacturers have gone through their internal development process and provided print settings for Form 4B printers with Open Material Mode. Several additional resin manufacturers currently have settings development in progress, but Formlabs does not have control over the timelines and cannot commit to any specific dates.
