Using the Form Cure V2

The Form Cure V2 requires time to reach the specified temperature before the 405 nm lights begin post-curing. The heating time depends on the current temperature and the target post-cure temperature.

Before you begin

Before inserting a printed part into the Form Cure:

Form Cure controls

Use the knob to operate the Form Cure. Rotate the knob counterclockwise or clockwise to move between items in a menu, and push the knob to select an option on the display.

  • Start activates the heater and internal LEDs. The 405 nm lights begin post-curing once the heater reaches the target temperature.
  • The material type and version displays the recommended Form Cure time and temperature settings for the selected resin.
    • Time adjusts the cure time, indicated in minutes. Push the knob to select this option, and rotate the knob to move between time settings.
    • Temperature adjusts the cure temperature, indicated in degrees Celsius (℃). Push the knob to select this option, and rotate the knob to move between temperature settings.
  • 1 Min Cure activates the heater and internal LEDs for one minute.
  • Settings displays a menu of information about the unit.
  • Edit Time adjusts the cure time for an active post-cure cycle.
  • Pause turns off the heater and LEDs during a post-cure cycle, while preserving the remaining time in the post-cure cycle. Opening the door automatically pauses the post-cure cycle.
  • Abort cancels the remaining time in the post-cure cycle and turns off the heater and LEDs.

Form Cure workflow

Insert washed and fully dried parts into the Form Cure. Let the Form Cure preheat by selecting a time and temperature, leaving the prints inserted. Remove the parts when the post-cure cycle finishes.

Notice:

Do not operate the Form Cure with uncured resin, partially cured resin, or solvents on the turntable. Always let prints fully dry (whether they have been washed with IPA, TPM, Formlabs Washing Solution, or water) before post-curing them with the Form Cure. Forced air, such as a fan or clean compressed air may dry parts more quickly.

Insert washed and dried prints

Allow parts to fully dry after washing. Check surfaces and interior spaces for trapped solvent. Curing parts that contain solvent and dissolved resin may cure solvent inside the part, prevent parts from strengthening, and affect material properties.

Open the door and distribute parts on the round turntable. Space parts evenly to allow light and heat to reach all areas. Close the door.

Set the post-cure time and temperature

  1. Check your resin’s recommended post-cure time and temperature before beginning a post-cure cycle.
  2. Turn the knob to navigate the display menu and select the material type and version. Push the knob to select or confirm.
  3. Select Start. The LEDs activate, and the timer starts once the heater reaches the target temperature.

During preheating, the display shows the Preheating status, which includes the current temperature and the target temperature.

Notice:

The printed part must be in the Form Cure while it heats. If the part is not placed in the Form Cure until preheating is complete, it may cause cracking.

Remove parts

The LEDs and heater turn off automatically at the end of the post-cure cycle. Open the door to remove parts.

Caution:

The Form Cure contains two 450 W heaters to help post-cure parts. Internal surfaces and printed parts may be hot during and after use. Take care when removing parts.

After post-curing

  • Visit the Finishing section on the support site for more information on additional finishing and post-processing steps.
  • Clean and maintain your Form Cure, as needed.
  • Check how many hours your Form Cure has been in use by turning and pressing the knob to Settings > System > Statistics. The Statistics screen appears, displaying the unit’s number of Total Cycles, Heat Cycles, and hours of LED Usage.
