    Form 4 Resin Tank

Low Force Display™ (LFD) 3D printing uses a flexible yet strong dual-layer film tank for consistent, high-quality prints. Every resin tank includes a reusable lid, making it easy to stack tanks and store resin outside of the machine. With a separate tank for each individual resin color or type, switching materials is as easy as sliding in a new tank.

Resin Tanks are built to last and deliver consistent performance for at least 75,000 layers of printing — approximately 190 prints using average height model (39 mm tall), any resin, and 100 µm layer height.

    Form 4 Mixer

The Form 4 Resin Mixer improves material performance by keeping resin homogenous in the tank during the printing process. A Resin Mixer is required anytime you are printing. Resin Mixers typically last for the lifetime of your Resin Tank or more.

For convenience, we recommend having one Resin Mixer for each Form 4 Resin Tank.

FAQ

Precision Model Resin is a fast-printing SLA material formulated for high-accuracy model production. It is designed for applications such as miniatures, figurines, and restorative dental models. It delivers a smooth, matte, opaque beige finish that captures fine details and makes margin lines easy to visualize.

Precision Model Resin is the next generation of Model Resin, built to leverage the Form 4 ecosystem. Compared to Model Resin V3, it prints three times faster, offers better fine feature resolution and consistency, and provides a more opaque and matte aesthetic that improves margin line visualization.

Yes. Formlabs will ship a Precision Model Resin 3D printed sample part to your office so you can evaluate the quality firsthand. You can request a sample part here.

Precision Model Resin consistently produces restorative models with over 99% of their printed surface area within 100 μm of the digital design, and 95% of the surface area within 50 μm.

The gypsum-like, matte, opaque beige color is intentional. It makes it easier to visualize crisp margin lines and improves the overall aesthetics of restorative models, closely resembling the appearance of traditional plaster models.

With Precision Model Resin on the Form 4 Series, you can print eight models in as little as 90 minutes. This represents a three times speed improvement over the previous Model Resin V3, made possible by the Form 4 ecosystem.

Precision Model Resin is compatible with the Form 4, Form 4B, Form 4L, Form 4B. It works with the Form 4 Resin Tank and Form 4L Resin Tank, as well as the standard and Flex Build Platforms for both printer sizes.

Post-processing involves two main steps. First, wash the part using isopropyl alcohol or an ether-based solution to remove uncured resin from the surface. Formlabs Form Wash or Form Wash L are both compatible. Second, post-cure the part using a Form Cure or Form Cure L unit. Post-curing is essential for parts to achieve their full strength and intended functional properties by completing the chemical reaction initiated during printing.

Wash time settings are available on the Formlabs support site for Form Wash and Form Wash L. Cure settings are available separately for Form Cure V1, Form Cure V2, Form Cure L V1, and Form Cure L V2.

Precision Model Resin has an ultimate tensile strength of 50 MPa, a tensile modulus of 2.2 GPa, a flexural strength of 87 MPa, a flexural modulus of 2.3 GPa, and an elongation at break of 8.6%. Heat deflection temperature is 53.5°C at 0.45 MPa and 46.3 °C at 1.8 MPa. For the full technical specifications, you can download the Technical Data Sheet.

Precision Model Resin supports a minimum layer thickness of 50 microns, enabling it to capture fine surface details and deliver the high resolution required for restorative dental models and detailed miniatures.
