Why Choose Alpha Fast Resin

Blazing Fast

Iterate faster with print speeds up to 130 mm/h, for printing small components in minutes or the entire build volume in less than two hours.

Speed Without Compromising Reliability

Print settings are rigorously tested by Formlabs, so printing fast doesn't come at the expense of print success.

Engineering-Grade performance

Exceed the strength and toughness of ABS-like resins and ABS filaments with a 46 MPa ultimate tensile strength and a 34% elongation of break.

Print with Confidence

The Alpha Resin Family uses low-odor components and post-processed parts meet safety requirements for long-term skin contact. Alpha Resins are the first resin printing materials certified for UL GREENGUARD Gold, when printed on Form Studio 1 and using VOC Extractor.

Applications

Rapid iteration on prototypes to refine form, fit and function.

Jigs, fixtures, and organizers that print in minutes.

Initial prototypes for shape and feel.

Large parts printed in under two hours.

Resin Printing with Confidence

Low VOC Emissions

The Alpha Resins are the first resin printing materials to achieve UL GREENGUARD Gold*, an independent standard certifying low VOC emissions for homes, offices, schools, and other indoor environments. This certification is for the printing process - not just for a final part.

Skin-Safe Parts

Post-processed parts meet requirements for long-term (>30 day) skin contact, in accordance with ISO 10993, meaning they can be used in wearables and high-contact applications.

Minimize Risks

Liquid resin scored as non-skin irritant according to OECD 439, a standard commonly used in cosmetics industry, to minimize the risks from incidental skin contact with resin.

Low-Odor Components

Formulated using low-odor chemicals, ensuring a pleasant printing experience.

FAQ

Alpha Fast Resin is the fastest-printing material in the Formlabs Alpha Resin Family. It reaches speeds of up to 130 mm/h, so you can print small components in minutes or fill the entire build volume in under two hours. It's built for makers who want a quick turnaround from their desktop 3D printer.

Alpha Fast Resin is well suited for these uses:

  • Rapid prototyping to refine form, fit, and function
  • Initial prototypes for shape and feel
  • Jigs, fixtures, and organizers that print in minutes
  • Large parts printed in under two hours

Alpha Fast Resin averages 90 mm/h at a 150 μm layer height and reaches up to 130 mm/h at 250 μm. Print settings are rigorously tested by Formlabs, so speed doesn't come at the expense of print success.

Yes. For makers who want a 3D printer for home projects like organizers, paint holders, brackets, and quick fixes, Alpha Fast Resin turns ideas into usable parts in minutes

Choose Alpha Fast Resin when speed is the priority, such as for iterating on designs, printing functional parts, or filling a build plate quickly. For display-ready surfaces and a balance of speed and aesthetics, choose Alpha Black, White, Grey, or Clear. For the finest detail on miniatures and figurines, choose Alpha Model Resin.

Yes. Alpha Fast Resin is formulated with low-odor chemicals. Alpha Resins are the first resin printing materials certified UL GREENGUARD Gold for low VOC emissions when printed on Form Studio 1 using VOC Extractor.

Wash parts in clean ≥90% IPA or Formlabs Resin Washing Solution and air dry for at least 30 minutes before handling. Post-curing is optional but recommended to reach full strength. Settings are available for Form Studio Wash + Cure, Form Wash, Form Wash L, and Form Cure units.

Alpha Fast Resin is designed for Form Studio 1.

Post-Processing

Washing

The foundational step in any SLA post-processing workflow is to remove any excess resin on the surface of the parts through a solvent wash.

Use clean ≥ 90% IPA, or use Formlabs Resin Washing Solution.

For the best surface finish, Formlabs recommends allowing parts printed in Alpha Resins to air dry for at least 30 minutes after washing, before handling.

Curing

Post-curing Alpha Resins is optional, but recommended, for parts to achieve their full strength and functionality. This step completes the chemical reaction initiated during printing, transforming the part from its green state into a fully finished component.
