Black Resin V5 is a General Purpose SLA resin formulated specifically to leverage the Form 4 Series ecosystem. It delivers an optimal balance of fast print speed, high dimensional accuracy, presentation-ready appearance, strong mechanical properties, and an easy, reliable workflow. It prints in a rich, matte black shade that captures fine features accurately.

Compared to V4, Black Resin V5 prints three times faster by taking advantage of the Form 4 Series ecosystem. It also features a darker and richer shade, double the elongation at break, and 25% higher impact strength, making it both tougher and better looking than the previous version.

Black Resin V5 is well suited for form and fit prototyping, enclosures and housings, jigs and fixtures, and presentation-ready models with fine features and intricate details. Its combination of dimensional accuracy and polished aesthetics makes it a strong choice across engineering and design workflows.

Black Resin V5 delivers strong, stiff parts with a versatile balance of mechanical properties. For example, when post-cured at 60 °C for 15 minutes, it achieves an ultimate tensile strength of 61 MPa, a tensile modulus of 2700 MPa, and a flexural strength of 103 MPa. Black Resin V5 is compatible with Form 4, Form 4B, Form 4L, and Form 4BL printers. It works with the Form 4 Resin Tank and Form 4L Resin Tank, and supports multiple build platform options across those printer series.

The foundational post-processing step is washing parts in an alcohol or ether bath to remove excess resin from the surface. Formlabs recommends using Form Wash or Form Wash L with the appropriate time settings available on the Formlabs support site.

Post-curing is optional for general purpose resins. However, Formlabs recommends a short post-cure to reduce surface tack and improve mechanical properties. Formlabs recommends using Form Cure or Form Cure L units. Cure settings are available separately for Form Cure V1, Form Cure V2, Form Cure L V1, and Form Cure L V2.
