Dec. 18, 2015 in News
Tis’ the season to shop, and to get in the gifting spirit we’ve rounded up items created with Formlabs printers over the last year. From one-of-a-kind 3D printed earphones to a storytelling toy for kids, here are some of our favorite products created with our favorite 3D printer:
A collaboration between Rebecca Minkoff and Normal Headphones, these gorgeous earphones are custom made to fit each individual’s ear. The earphones are 3D printed in Formlabs Castable Resin, cast in brass, and then plated in 14K rose-gold.
MOTI is a smart device created to aid habit formation by keeping users accountable and tracking their progress. Printed with Formlabs White Resin, the Moti prototype had the “look and feel” of the final product, which was extremely important in beta testing.
Jewelry designer Sarah Graham uses the Form 2 and a digital scanner to create one-of-a-kind rings with your fingerprints. Her hand-crafted fingerprint jewelry, made in her studio in San Francisco, shows off the exceptional detail you can get using Castable Resin.
StoryHome is a story-telling device that allows parents and grandparents to record stories for children to listen to before they go to bed. The company used White Resin to create a prototype that was functional and closely resembled the final product.
Charlie V Sunglasses
Charlie V Sunglasses, currently on Kickstarter, are engineered with an twist and pivot hinge design so they fold up more compactly. They used the Form 1+ to test the new hinge feature, as well as the lens fit and compatibility.
These are just a few of the beautiful and creative products being made with Formlabs 3D Printers. Head over to our forums to check out more and post your own design projects.
