Thermal properties of selected Formlabs SLA resins
Thermal properties of selected Formlabs SLA resins
Below is data about the thermal properties of selected Formlabs SLA resins. Use this data along with the information in Choosing the right material and the technical data sheet (TDS) for your selected material to pick a resin and evaluate your printed parts. If data for your material is not available, choose the closest comparable material and interpolate or extrapolate as necessary. For other requests, reach out to Formlabs Support or your sales representative.
Thermal conductivity
Available thermal conductivity data is listed in the table below:
| Resin | Thermal Conductivity (W/m-K) | RSD (%) |
|---|---|---|
| Rigid 10K Resin V1 | 0.621 | 0.3 |
| Tough 1500 Resin V1 | 0.311 | 0.66 |
| Tough 2000 Resin V1 | 0.270 | 0.80 |
| ESD Resin V1 | 0.305 | 0.75 |
| Clear Resin V2 | 0.28 | |
| Clear Resin V5 | 0.54 |
Metals have average conductivities of >30 W/m-K. In comparison, unfilled resins (excluding Rigid Resins) have thermal conductivities between 0.25–0.35 W/m-K, classifying them as medium-low conductors of heat. These resins are better insulators than metals but less effective than materials that specialize in insulation.
Specific heat and heat capacity
Formlabs has measured the heat capacity of a selection of resins using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The following table shows the heat capacity at 25 °C.

|---|---|---|
| Black Resin V5 | 1.9 | Postcured |
| Clear Resin V5 | 1.8 | Postcured |
| Grey Resin V5 | 1.8 | Postcured |
| White Resin V5 | 1.5 | Postcured |
| Fast Model Resin | 4.3 | Postcured |
| Tough 1500 Resin V2 | 2.0 | Postcured |
| Tough 2000 Resin | 2.0 | Postcured |
| Durable Resin V2.1 | 2.1 | Postcured |
| Rigid 4000 Resin | 1.9 | Postcured |
