We’ve been amazed and delighted by the fantastically creative models that Form 1 users have posted in our forums: from the otherworldly sculptures of Robert Vignone and Ann Sidenblad, to the expert model-making of Brian Anderson, to the hilarious mini-figure props by Luke Porter.
At heart, though, we're engineers. We wanted to share some of the techy stuff we’ve been playing around with in the office. Masterminded by our design engineer, Jason, this design article focuses on a topic near and dear to the hearts of all engineers: blinky lights.
Light pipes are a common component in electronic devices, transmitting the light from an LED on the circuit board to another location on the device – like a button or indicator symbol. The pipes typically require some pretty careful construction, but with just a little finishing, Jason has been using our Clear Resin to make functional light pipes with a Form 1!
As a proof of concept (and a shout-out to Make), Jason built this little guy:
