Why Choose Grey Pro Resin?

Grey Pro Resin is a tough and heat resistant material that has increased elongation and improved toughness compared to Formlabs Standard Resins.

Low Creep

Able to withstand high stress and hold its shape overtime.

High Heat Resistance

Allow hot air, gas, and fluid flow through your parts.

Tough

Handle parts repeatedly, knowing parts will absorb shock and impact energy without breaking.

High Precision

Create looks-like prototypes with smooth surfaces that show fine detail.

Applications

Grey Pro Resin is ideal for concept modeling and versatile and functional prototyping. It is a versatile material suitable for both looks-like prototypes and rigorous hands-on testing.

* Material properties may vary based on part geometry, print orientation, print settings, and temperature. Data was obtained from green parts printed using Form 2, 100 μm, Grey Pro Resin settings, and post-cured with a Form Cure for 120 minutes at 80 °C.

Post-Processing

Washing

The foundational step in any SLA post-processing workflow is to remove any excess resin on the surface of the parts through an alcohol or ether wash.

FAQ

Grey Pro Resin is a tough, heat-resistant SLA material with low creep, increased elongation, and improved toughness compared to Formlabs General Purpose Resins. It is a versatile material suitable for concept modeling, looks-like prototypes, and functional prototyping with rigorous hands-on testing.

Grey Pro Resin is well-suited for a range of prototyping and light manufacturing tasks, including mold masters for plastics and silicones, form and fit testing, injection molded product prototypes, and jigs and fixtures for manufacturing.

Grey Pro Resin is compatible with the Form 2 and Form 3 Series printers, including the Form 3, Form 3B, Form 3L, and Form 3BL. It is not designed for use with Form 4 Series printers.

Yes. Grey Resin V5 is recommended for the Form 4 Series. It offers improved mechanical properties and three times faster print speed compared to Grey Pro Resin on the Form 3 Series.

Grey Pro Resin offers increased elongation, improved toughness, low creep, and higher heat resistance compared to standard General Purpose Resins. These properties make it better suited for parts that need to withstand repeated handling, shock, and elevated temperatures.

Grey Pro Resin has an ultimate tensile strength of 61 MPa, a tensile modulus of 2.6 GPa, a flexural modulus of 2.2 GPa, a notched Izod impact strength of 19 J/m, 13% elongation at break, and a heat deflection temperature of 78 °C at 0.45 MPa. The minimum layer thickness is 50 microns. Note that material properties may vary based on part geometry, print orientation, print settings, and temperature. You can download the full Grey Pro Resin Technical Data Sheet for complete specifications.

The foundational post-processing step is washing parts in an alcohol or ether bath to remove excess resin from the surface. Formlabs recommends using Form Wash or Form Wash L with the appropriate time settings available on the Formlabs support site.

Post-curing is optional for Grey Pro Resin, as it falls under Formlabs General Purpose Resins. However, Formlabs recommends a short post-cure to reduce surface tack and improve mechanical properties. Compatible post-cure units include Form Cure V1 and V2, as well as Form Cure L V1 and V2.

Compatible tanks include the Form 2 LT Tank, Form 3 Resin Tank V2.1, and Form 3L Resin Tank V3. Compatible build platforms include the Form 3 Build Platform, Form 3 Build Platform 2, Form 3 Stainless Steel Build Platform, Form 3L Build Platform, and Form 3L Build Platform 2L.
