Refilling the Fuse Blast Polishing System water tank

Refilling the Fuse Blast Polishing System water tank

The Fuse Blast Polishing System uses a mixture of water and Formlabs Polishing Agent to condition the blasting media. The water level window provides a visual indication of how much water is in the tank, and the Fuse Blast’s touchscreen notifies you if the water level is low. Formlabs recommends using tap water mixed with Formlabs Polishing Agent for best results. Do not use deionized water in the Fuse Blast Polishing System.

Notice:

  • Do not add more than 7 mL of Polishing Agent when refilling the water tank. Excess Polishing Agent saturates the media and causes it to clump, which may require replacing the blasting media.
  • Always rinse out the water tank with tap water before refilling. Failure to do so may lead to excess Polishing Agent in the water.
  • Except when instructed by Formlabs, leave the flow rate set to the recommended 2 mL/min. Higher flow rates may lead to excess Polishing Agent saturating the media.

To refill the water tank:

  1. Open the door latch to access the water tank.
  2. Release the water feed line from the tank cap using the thumb tab.
  3. Remove the water tank from the Polishing Module.
  4. Unscrew the tank cap.
  5. Pour out any solution in the water tank.
  6. Rinse out the tank with water to prevent saturating media with excess Polishing Agent
  7. Fill the tank with tap water until 80% full. Do not use deionized water.
  8. Add 7 mL of Formlabs Polishing Agent to the tank.
  9. Close the tank and agitate to mix.
  10. Wipe down any spills before inserting into the Fuse Blast Polishing Module.
  11. Slide the tank into the Polishing Module. Make sure it bottoms out.
  12. Reattach the water feed line by pressing it into the tank cap.
  13. Close the Polishing Module.
