Schedule of maintenance (Fuse 1)

The Fuse 1 generation printer is a complex machine with sensitive moving parts that need regular maintenance in order to remain in good working order. Sintering nylon powder results in the production of off gases and laurolactam, which collect onto the printer’s various components in the print enclosure and air system. In order to preserve the accuracy and reliability of the Fuse 1 generation printer, it is important to regularly check and clean several components and assemblies.

Note:

The printer automatically tracks maintenance tasks and alerts you to overdue, upcoming, and future maintenance tasks. When you open the door of the printer, a maintenance notice pops up. When you close the door, the notice disappears.

On the printer’s touchscreen, tap the wrench icon. The Maintenance screen appears. Tasks are divided into Overdue Maintenance, Upcoming Maintenance, and Future Maintenance categories based on how soon they need to be addressed. The maintenance screen also has buttons for the Motor Moves function and the print enclosure light controls.

Tap a maintenance task to bring up the specific instructions for that task. Follow the on-screen prompts to clean or replace dirty or used parts. The on-screen QR code directs you to the support site for additional information.

Tasks are categorized as Upcoming Maintenance if there is less than 20 hours left on the counter. The exception, Replace Filters, is labeled Upcoming Maintenance at 100 hours to allow you enough time to order new filters.

The total print hour count starts at 00:00 when the printer is updated to firmware version 1.17 and does not account for previous machine hours. As a result, you may need to check and clean components and assemblies earlier than suggested on-screen after first updating the firmware.
