Nine validated materials cover everyday printing, engineering parts, and jewelry casting.
Six Alpha Resins handle general-purpose printing, from fast drafts to fine, highly detailed parts. Alpha Resins are designed with safety in mind: they are UL GREENGUARD Gold certified for low chemical emissions when used with Form Studio 1 and the VOC Extractor, and printed parts are certified skin-safe in accordance with ISO 10993.
Tough 1500 V2, Flexible 80A V2, and True Cast Resins extend the capabilities of Form Studio 1 to functional prototypes, soft-touch parts, and castable patterns.
Every validated Formlabs material comes with print settings tested for Form Studio 1, delivering industry-leading print success and reliability without calibration or trial and error.
Most other Formlabs resins are also compatible with Form Studio 1 and work with automatic resin dispensing. Starting settings are provided, but you may need to fine-tune them. Since Form Studio 1 doesn't include a resin mixer, results and mechanical properties may differ from the technical data sheet.

Limited selection, potentially harmful resins
UltraPrint resins come with fine-tuned profiles for general-purpose, clear, water-washable, ABS-like, and elastic applications.
Higher-performance engineering resins are not compatible with the Reflex RS Turbo. They are designed for the Reflex 2 Series, which uses a different light source.
Open Material Mode supports third-party 405 nm resins, though HeyGears recommends its own profiles for stable printing.
Low-cost resins also tend to have strong odors, emit high levels of VOCs that require ventilation, and contain more hazardous chemicals.

The Cure includes preset cure profiles, but the Wash is messier to use and doesn't lift parts out of the cleaning solution when the cycle ends, unlike Form Wash. If parts are left in, they can warp, so users need to be there and remove them on time. The combined cost is also about four times that of Form Studio Wash+Cure, which has no compact, affordable equivalent from HeyGears.
Resin heating system
The Heated & Pulsing Release Resin Tank is an add-on, sold separately at an additional cost. It takes about 20 minutes to raise the resin temperature from 10 °C to 22 °C.
