Starting with PreForm version 3.53.0, you can measure distances between points on a model or between two models within PreForm. Use this tool to measure feature dimensions, check part spacing, and more.

To measure distances in PreForm:

1. Open one or more models.
2. Click the ruler icon in the upper-right corner of the 3D scene, labeled Enter Measure Mode. PreForm enters measure mode and the Measurement panel appears in the sidebar.
3. Mouse over the model where you want to add your first measurement endpoint. An arrowhead follows your mouse pointer, rotating to match the local surface normal of the model as you move.
4. Click to set the first measurement endpoint. The arrowhead stays where you clicked.
5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 to set the second endpoint. A line appears connecting the two endpoints along with an annotation listing the distance between the two.
6. Check the Measurement panel for more details about the distance measurement. Click the copy icon next to any of the measurements to copy it to your clipboard.
• Distance: The straight line distance between the two endpoints, also shown in the 3D scene.
• X: The X component of the vector connecting the two measurement endpoints.
• Y: The Y component of the vector connecting the two measurement endpoints.
• Z: The Z component of the vector connecting the two measurement endpoints.
7. Click another point on a model to start a new measurement.
8. Click the ruler icon, labeled Exit Measure Mode, to exit measure mode. Any visible measurements and endpoints disappear, along with the Measurement panel.
