Form 1 3D printer in the assembly line

Production Update

March 21, 2013 in News

We’d like to give you an update on our progress and thank you (again) for your ongoing support and understanding. You’re amazing.

The Form 1 is in full production with our factory floor geared up to produce 1,000+ units. The line is set. The components have arrived. Ten sample production units will come off the line for testing this week.

Unfortunately we’ve also seen some delays. Once we ordered components in the thousands (instead of tens), our quality assurance processes found unacceptable performance in a few parts. While we are committed to getting your Form 1 to you as soon as possible, we are more dedicated to shipping a quality printer. Our team has been working hand in hand with our suppliers for the past few weeks and we are back on track.

Fortunately, we have been able to get a head start by assembling most components on our first batch of Form 1s. We will use the first ten printers mentioned above to finalize testing and click “go” on final assembly. We can’t yet declare the first shipment date, but we do plan to produce hundreds of Form 1s in April.

We really do appreciate your patience and encouragement on this amazing journey, and as always, we welcome you to contact us by e-mail at [email protected] with any questions you may have.

We are also excited to share our advancements in software, materials and of course printing cool parts, so please stay tuned!
