Required resources:

- Dowel
- Wood block
- Nail buffing sticks
- Fiber backed polishing paper
- Tack cloth
- Masking tape
- Spray clearcoat
- Safety equipment: gloves and mask
Required resources:
Step 1: Mount the primed part
Drill a starter hole in an inconspicuous spot and mount the primed part on a thin dowel. Insert the dowel into the wood block.

Step 2: Polish the surface
Gently polish the surface with the nail buffing sticks, starting with the "buff" side and finishing with the "polish" side until the surface is glossy.

Step 3: Remove dust
Run a tack cloth over the surface to remove dust.

Step 4: Stir the paint
Gently swirl the can for 2 to 3 minutes. Avoid shaking the can to prevent bubbly paint.

Step 5: Spray on the undercoat
Always start and end your spray off the model. Keep the nozzle 6 inches away and move quickly across the surface while rotating the model. Let the model dry for 20 to 30 minutes between layers. Apply two to three layers.

TIP:
Polish between layers with the finest sanding paper and a polishing stick for a glossy finish.
Step 6: Mask areas you want to keep in the undercoat
Cut the masking tape with scissors or a hobby knife. Apply the tape firmly. Press down on the edges to keep paint from seeping underneath.

Step 7: Apply the topcoat (optional)
A contrasting topcoat can create rich gradients. One or two light topcoats is enough.

Step 8: Finish with the clearcoat
Apply one or two thin layers of clearcoat.
