The Fuse X1 purges the region in front of the IR sensor and camera windows to keep them free of contamination and reduce the frequency at which you need to clean them. Over time, contaminants can build up in the tubing that connects to the IR sensor purge housing, reducing the efficacy of the purge and allowing the IR sensor to become dirty.

Clean the IR sensor purge tubing after every 480 hours of printing time (roughly monthly), or when indicated by the printer touchscreen.

To clean the IR sensor purge tubing:

1. Power off the printer. Cleaning the IR sensor purge tubing with the printer powered on could expose multiple components to contamination.

2. Access the IR sensor purge housing (item 19 in the figure below).

3. Unlatch, unplug, and remove the IR sensor.

4. Loosen the hose clamp securing the outlet tube to the IR sensor purge. It is the tube closest to the front of the printer on the IR sensor purge.

5. Open the purge filter door to the right of the IR sensor.

6. Use the included pipe cleaning brush to clear out any buildup from inside the purge housing. Be careful not to make contact with the blue diffuser material inside the purge housing.

7. Vacuum any loose particular from inside the purge housing.

8. Carefully repeat this process on the tube itself, pushing the brush all the way to the filter box.

9. Vacuum any loose particulate from inside the outlet tube.

10. Vacuum any loose particulate inside the purge filter cabinet, particularly from the outlet next to the filter.

11. Reconnect the outlet tube to the IR sensor purge housing and secure it with the hose clamp.

12. Reconnect and secure the IR sensor.

13. Close the purge filter door.

14. Close the maintenance access door. Latch it shut using an 8 mm hex driver.
