Required supplies:
Formlabs:
- Replacement power supply (RP-FS1-PSU-01)
- Note: The Form Cure L V1 uses the same power supply as the Fuse 1, Fuse 1+ 30W, and Fuse Blast.
Third-party:
- 2.5 mm hex driver
- #2 Phillips screwdriver
- Nitrile gloves
The power supply on Form Cure L V1 units is located below the motherboard, on the right side of the machine. A broken or malfunctioning power supply prevents the machine from functioning.
Use this guide to replace the power supply on a Form Cure L V1.

Third-party:
Estimated time: 15–20 minutes
Danger:
Read and follow all safety instructions and warnings in the operator manual. Replacement with incorrect parts can lead to burns, shock, fire, or explosion. Dispose of all parts in accordance with local regulations.
Preparing the workspace
Overview: Prepare the Form Cure L V1 and a dust-free workspace for replacing the power supply.
Step 1: Unplug the networking cables and Wi-Fi antenna
Disconnect the Ethernet and USB cables from the unit, if they are connected. Unscrew and remove the Wi-Fi antenna.
Step 2: Unplug the machine
Disconnect the power cable before continuing with maintenance. Do not perform maintenance on the machine while it is connected to power. Wait five minutes after disconnecting the machine from power before proceeding.
Danger:
Performing maintenance on the machine while it is plugged in increases the risk of electric shock. Never remove the panels of the machine while it is plugged in. Never reconnect the machine to power while the panels are uninstalled.
Removing the top shell
Overview: Unscrew and remove the top shell from the Form Cure L to access the power supply.
Notice:
The Form Cure L contains sensitive electronic components. Ground yourself before touching any electronics in the machine by using a grounding strap or touching a grounded piece of metal.
Step 1: Unscrew the top shell retention screws

The top shell is secured to the frame of the machine with six hex screws. When facing the front of the Form Cure L, two screws are located on the right side and four are located on the left. Use a 2.5 mm hex driver to unscrew and remove the screws.
Step 2: Remove the top shell

Slide the top shell towards the back of the machine to unhook it from the frame. Lift the top shell away from the machine and set it to the side.
Removing the power supply
Overview: Unscrew, unplug, and uninstall the power supply.
Locate the power supply, positioned on the right side of the machine below the motherboard.

Step 2: Begin disconnecting the power supply cables

A blue and brown cable runs from the bottom of the motherboard to the right side of the power supply. To disconnect this cable from the power supply, squeeze the latch on the connector and pull the connector directly away from the power supply. Do not pull on the wires themselves.
Step 3: Remove the power supply screws

Using a 2.5 mm hex driver, remove the four 5 mm M3 socket head screws securing the power supply to the machine. You will need an angled or flexible extension on your hex driver to access the two lower screws. Note that the top-right mounting screw also secures the grounding wire to the power supply. Set the screws aside.
Shift the power supply so you can access the screw terminals on its left side. Use a #2 Phillips screwdriver to unscrew the two terminal screws securing the yellow and black wires.
Remove the power supply from the Form Cure L V1 and set it aside for disposal with electronic waste.

Installing the replacement power supply
Overview: Connect, mount, and secure the new power supply.
Remove the replacement power supply from its packaging. Orient the power supply with the screw terminals on the left.
Connect the yellow wires to the top screw terminal: Use a #2 Phillips screwdriver to unscrew the top terminal screw, insert the screw through the ring terminal on the wires, then thread the screw back into the terminal block. Keep the square nut between the terminal screw head and the ring terminal on the wires. Use the #2 Phillips screwdriver to tighten until snug.
Repeat to connect the black wires to the bottom screw terminal.

Step 2: Mount and secure the power supply

Align the four screw holes in the corners of the power supply with the standoffs below the motherboard. Thread one 5 mm M3 socket screw into three of the four screw holes; leave the top-right screw hole empty. Using a 2.5 mm hex driver, tighten the screws until snug. You will need an angled or flexible extension on your hex driver to access the two lower screws.
Insert the remaining mounting screw through the ring terminal on the green grounding wire. Thread the screw into the top-right screw hole in the power supply, then use a 2.5 mm hex driver to tighten until snug.
Step 3: Reconnect the remaining power supply cable

Connect the blue and brown cable to the power supply. The connector only fits onto the pins on the power supply in one orientation. The latch makes an audible click when it is secure.
Reinstalling the top shell
Overview: After performing any other maintenance procedures, reinstall and secure the top shell.
Step 1: Reinstall the top shell
Lower the top shell onto the Form Cure L. Make sure you do not pinch any wires between the shell and the frame of the machine. Slide the top shell towards the front of the machine to hook it into place. Check that the screw holes in the top shell line up with the corresponding screw holes in the frame of the machine.
Step 2: Secure the top shell

Thread one 2.5 mm hex screw into each of the six screw holes in the top shell. Using a 2.5 mm hex driver, tighten the screws until finger tight.
Finalizing the repair
Overview: After reinstalling the top shell, power on the machine and perform final checks.
Step 1: Power on the machine
Connect the power cable to the Form Cure L and the power supply. Flip the breaker switch on the back of the unit to the ON position to turn on the machine. Check that the machine initializes normally.
Step 2: Test the repair
Start a post-cure cycle to further test the replacement power supply. Monitor the Form Cure L to ensure it heats up properly and stays powered on throughout the cycle. Contact Formlabs Support or your authorized reseller to share the results of the procedure.
