The Fuse Sift is the post processing station for the Fuse 1. When a print is finished, the resulting nylon parts are buried in loose powder and need to be extracted. The use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is recommended when interacting with the Fuse Sift, and regular maintenance is required to ensure that the powder recovery station runs in proper working order.

The following tools and consumable supplies are necessary for cleaning and maintaining the Fuse Sift:

• Nylon wire brushes
  Various sizes and shapes are provided to ease in the removal of parts from a cake. Avoid using any metallic or ceramic tools for post-processing, as they may damage parts in the process.
• Compliant vacuum that is grounded and bonded (e.g., Class II, Division 2 vacuum)
  Certified for use with materials whose finite particles present an explosive risk when in the vicinity of potentially malfunctioning electrical equipment. When connecting a vacuum to the Fuse Sift, use a vacuum that draws 14 A or less to prevent damage to the unit. 

You can adapt your own compliant vacuum to connect to the Fuse Sift, provided its power draw does not exceed what the Fuse Sift can deliver.

• 120 V: Use a vacuum that draws 14 A or less to prevent damage to the unit.
• 230 V: Use a vacuum that draws 6 A or less to avoid additional power requirements for the Fuse Sift. If your vacuum draws more than 6 A, your Fuse Sift needs an independent circuit supplying 230 V and 10 A.

For your reference:

• The North America 120 V Fuse Sift vacuum adapter cable is 14AWG 3C.
• The EU 230 V Fuse Sift vacuum adapter cable is H05VV-F 3G1.5mm².

One end of the cable needs to terminate in a IEC 320 C20 plug to connect to the Fuse Sift. The other should terminate in whatever socket is required to connect to your vacuum.

Safe operation of the Fuse Sift can be achieved by implementing the following equipment:

• Particulate filtering respiratory protection (N95 or better)
  The primary concern with respiratory protection is to avoid irritation, similar to other dusty environments. None is required with correct and proper use and under normal processing conditions. Avoid breathing dust. Avoid breathing processing fumes or vapors. Wear a properly fitted respirator approved by NIOSH if local exhaust does not keep the particulate concentration below ACGIH Threshold Limit Value or irritation occurs.
• Non-reactive nitrile gloves
  In the case of prolonged or frequently repeated skin contact, wear impermeable gloves. Before using, check glove leak tightness/impermeability. In the case of wanting to reuse the gloves, clean the gloves before taking off and air them well.
• Safety glasses
  Safety glasses or dust protection goggles are recommended to prevent particulate matter from entering eyes when handling product.
• Suitable protective clothing
  Long-sleeved shirts and long pants when handling the product are recommended. Routinely wash work clothing and protective equipment to remove contaminants.
