Before you begin
Step 1: Set up PreForm
After setting up the printer, download PreForm:
Step 2: Prepare a model in PreForm
Once the latest version of PreForm is installed on your computer:
- Open PreForm.
- Open one or multiple STL/OBJ/3MF files..
- Change the view.
- Select the material and the layer thickness.
- Understand the best practices that go into orienting and supporting a model.
- Move and rotate a model around the build volume
- Choose whether to print directly on the build platform or add supports to a model.
- Inspect models for unsupported minima and suction cups with the Slicer tool.
- Copy, mirror, scale, and delete models.
- Save changes.
Step 3: Transfer a file from PreForm to the printer
After setting up your model in PreForm, choose a printer to run the print job:
- Select or manually add a printer in PreForm.
- Match PreForm consumables (resin tank, resin cartridge) to consumables inserted in printer.or vice versa
- Send the print job from PreForm to the printer.
Step 4: Start a print on the printer
After transferring the print job, confirm the print job on the printer’s touchscreen to start the print.

After starting a print, log in to Dashboard and create a Formlabs account to:
