Note:
For customers in Europe, additional kiln options are available from:
Alumina 4N Resin has unique printing and post-processing requirements compared to other Formlabs resins. Formlabs strongly recommends the purchase of additional third-party supplies to ensure printing success with Alumina 4N Resin.
Build platforms
Form 3 generation
Alumina 4N Resin is not compatible with the standard Form 3 build platform.
Form 4 generation
Alumina 4N Resin is compatible with all Form 4 build platforms. Note that parts printed with Alumina 4N Resin cannot be released using the part release paddles on a Form 4 Flex Build Platform.
Burnout kiln
As part of Alumina 4N Resin’s unique post-processing requirements, dried printed parts require firing in a burnout oven or kiln. Formlabs recommends firing parts printed in Alumina 4N Resin twice, first in a burnout (debinding) kiln and then in a sintering kiln.

Setter plates
As with traditional ceramic materials, parts printed in Alumina 4N must be placed on setter plates for the firing process inside the oven or kiln. Formlabs strongly recommends using alumina setter plates to fire your printed parts. Setter plates made of zirconia, fused magnesia, or silicon carbide are acceptable alternatives. Do not use setter plates made of silica, glass, ceramic, boron nitride, or any metal. Ensure that the plates are compatible with your kiln or oven and are rated for a minimum of 1700° C.

Finishing tools and other supplies
Parts printed with Alumina 4N Resin are easy to post-process in their green state. Sand the parts dry or use the Ceramic Wash Solution as a lubricant. Parts cannot be further post-processed once fired.
Formlabs suggests the use of line conditioners or UPS in regions with voltage fluctuations. Formlabs also suggests placing containers of Alumina 4N Resin into a refrigerator to extend the lifespan of the resin.
