Flexible 50A Resin is a soft, translucent elastomeric material with a 50A Shore durometer, designed for prototyping parts that would traditionally be produced with softer rubbers and silicones. It features high elongation and high energy return, and parts are strong enough not to tear during printing.

Parts printed in Flexible 50A Resin can bend, stretch, and compress repeatedly without tearing, and they spring back quickly to their original shape. With an elongation at break of 160% and a tear strength of 12.3 kN/m, the material is built to withstand rugged, repeated use.

The material's measured properties include an ultimate tensile strength of 3.4 MPa, a stress at 100% elongation of 1.7 MPa, a Shore hardness of 55A, and a tear strength of 12.3 kN/m. Because Flexible 50A Resin prints in a translucent color, finished parts allow visibility into the model. This can be useful for applications where monitoring internal features or fluid flow is important.

The resin is ideal for soft, flexible prototypes that mimic silicone or soft rubber. Common applications include wearables such as straps, compressible buttons, stretchable enclosures and casings, compliant features for robotics, soft tissue anatomy and medical models, and special effects props and models.

Flexible 50A Resin is compatible with Form 4, Form 4B, Form 4L, Form 4BL, Form 3, Form 3L, Form 3B, and Form 3BL. It works with corresponding resin tanks and build platforms for each printer series.

Post-processing involves two main steps. First, wash the part using isopropyl alcohol or an ether-based solution to remove uncured resin from the surface. Formlabs Form Wash or Form Wash L are both compatible. Second, post-cure the part using a Form Cure or Form Cure L unit. Post-curing is essential for parts to achieve their full strength and intended functional properties by completing the chemical reaction initiated during printing.

Wash time settings are available on the Formlabs support site for Form Wash and Form Wash L. Cure settings are available separately for Form Cure V1, Form Cure V2, Form Cure L V1, and Form Cure L V2.
