Incorrect solvent monitor readings (Form Wash L)

Incorrect solvent monitor readings (Form Wash L)

Explanation

The Form Wash L solvent monitor reports the saturation rates of the solvent in the wash bucket. While solvent monitor readings can vary, large deviations and sudden changes are not normal. For example, if your Form Wash L recently reported a 5% saturation rate after 100 wash cycles, but now reports a 0% saturation rate without adding new solvent, there may be an issue with the solvent monitor.

Causes

  • Broken solvent monitor
  • Software bug

Symptoms

  • Incorrect solvent monitor readings

Troubleshooting steps

  1. Download the machine's logs to send to Formlabs Support.
  2. Check the ambient temperature around your Form Wash L. The Form Wash L is designed to operate in a well-ventilated room (≥ 3 air exchanges per hour) with a temperature of 18–28 °C (64–82 °F). Temperatures outside that range can affect solvent monitor readings.
  3. Update the Form Wash L’s firmware.
  4. Tare the solvent monitor by changing and reselecting the solvent type.
    1. On the Home screen tap Solvent. The Solvent screen appears.
    2. Tap Replace Solvent and follow the on-screen prompt.
    3. Tap a different solvent than you are using (e.g., if washing with IPA, select TPM). The Form Wash L should display an error that the solvent in the wash bucket does not match the selected solvent.
    4. Repeat and reselect the current solvent.
  5. Perform a factory reset.
    1. Tap the wrench icon on the Home screen. The Settings screen appears.
    2. Tap System. The System screen appears.
    3. Tap Factory Reset. Follow the onscreen prompts to perform a factory reset on the Form Wash L.
    4. The touchscreen displays Factory reset complete before initializing the machine.
  6. If the solvent monitor continues to report incorrect saturation levels, contact Formlabs Support or an authorized reseller. Include the log file you downloaded previously..
