Draft Resin is a Formlabs SLA material designed for rapid prototyping on Form 3 Series printers. It prints up to four times faster than Formlabs General Purpose Resins, making it ideal for initial prototypes, rapid design iterations, and high-throughput part production. It delivers a smooth grey finish and high accuracy so you can test multiple designs in a single day and bring products to market faster.

Draft Resin is compatible with the Form 2, Form 3, Form 3B, Form 3L, and Form 3BL printers. Compatible tanks include the Form 2 LT Tank, Form 3 Resin Tank V2.1, and Form 3L Resin Tank V3.

Draft Resin is designed for Form 3 and Form 2 Series printers and is not the recommended choice for the Form 4 ecosystem. If you are printing on a Form 4 Series printer, Formlabs recommends Fast Model Resin, which offers three times faster print speed and improved mechanical properties compared to Draft Resin V2.

Draft Resin prints up to four times faster than Formlabs General Purpose Resins on Form 3 Series printers. This speed advantage lets teams iterate quickly and evaluate multiple design variations in the time it would normally take to produce a single prototype.

Draft Resin supports two layer thickness settings. Use 200-micron settings for maximum print speed, or switch to 100-micron settings when your model requires finer surface detail and greater accuracy. The minimum layer thickness is 100 microns.

The V2 reformulation reduced layer thickness by 33%, which improves surface finish and accuracy. It also reduced support touchpoints and shortened both Form Wash and Form Cure processing times, simplifying the overall post-processing workflow.

Draft Resin's properties vary depending on how parts are post-cured. At peak cure (post-cured at 60 °C), parts reach an Ultimate Tensile Strength of 52.0 MPa, a Tensile Modulus of 2.3 GPa, a Flexural Modulus of 2.3 GPa, a Notched Izod of 26 J/m, and an Elongation at Break of 4%. Draft Resin is formulated for the early stages of the design process, covering initial prototypes and rapid design iterations. For final models requiring highly refined surface details or stronger engineering-grade properties, Formlabs offers a broad library of Standard and Engineering Resins.

Post-processing involves two main steps. First, wash the part using isopropyl alcohol or an ether-based solution to remove uncured resin from the surface. Formlabs Form Wash or Form Wash L are both compatible. Second, post-cure the part using a Form Cure or Form Cure L unit. Post-curing is essential for parts to achieve their full strength and intended functional properties by completing the chemical reaction initiated during printing.
