Grey Resin V5 is Formlabs' latest formulation of their General Purpose Resin for the Form 4 Series. It is designed to deliver an optimal balance of fast print speed, high accuracy, presentation-ready appearance, strong mechanical properties, and an easy, reliable workflow.

Grey Resin V5 prints three times faster than V4 by taking full advantage of the Form 4 Series ecosystem. It also offers 30% higher impact strength and a darker, richer matte color compared to the previous version.

Grey Resin V5 is compatible with Form 4, Form 4B, Form 4L, and Form 4BL printers. It works with both the Form 4 Resin Tank and the Form 4L Resin Tank, as well as the corresponding build platforms and Flex Build Platforms.

In addition to a compatible printer, you will need the appropriate resin tank (Form 4 Resin Tank or Form 4L Resin Tank) and a compatible build platform. Accessories include the Form 4 Mixer or Form 4L Mixer to help keep resin well-mixed during printing.

Grey Resin V5 achieves XY dimensional tolerances of ±0.15% (with a lower limit of ±0.02 mm). Its rich, matte color and high accuracy allow it to capture fine features and intricate details effectively, producing a surface finish that rivals injection-molded parts.

Grey Resin V5 provides a versatile combination of stiffness, toughness, and strength alongside a presentation-ready matte finish. It is well suited for form and fit prototyping, presentation-ready models with fine features, and manufacturing aids such as jigs and fixtures.

Yes. Grey Resin V5 is formulated with ultra-low volatile organic compounds (VOCs), making it a more comfortable material to print with in office or lab environments.

Post-curing is optional for general purpose resins. However, Formlabs recommends a short post-cure to reduce surface tack and improve mechanical properties. Formlabs recommends using Form Cure or Form Cure L units. Cure settings are available separately for Form Cure V1, Form Cure V2, Form Cure L V1, and Form Cure L V2.

The foundational post-processing step is washing parts in an alcohol or ether bath to remove excess resin from the surface. Formlabs recommends using Form Wash or Form Wash L with the appropriate time settings available on the Formlabs support site.
